Having the background of a successful career in commerce and finance, Zach Abrams has spent many years writing reports, letters and presentations and it's only fairly recently he started writing novels. "It's a more honourable type of fiction," he declares.

Writer of the Alex Warren Murder Mystery series, set in Scotland, Zach has also written the psychological thrillers ’Ring Fenced’ and '133 Hours' and the financial thriller ‘Source’, as well as collaborating with Elly Grant on a book of short stories.

    I read Zach Abrams’ Made a Killing (Alex Warren Murder Mysteries Book 1) in 2012and called it “a solid and entertaining crime and detective novel”. In the meantime I’ve read a few more novels by the same author, including SOURCE: Greed, Power, Revenge, or is it Economic Terrorism? There are aspects about Abrams’ novels that make them brilliant books to read: they are down to earth and engaging, they have interesting plots, they are well-structured, which helps to create a lot of suspense, they are well written, which brings the characters alive, and the characters are credible.
    SOURCE: Greed, Power, Revenge, or is it Economic Terrorism? is no exception. It is a novel you don’t want to put down. I could identify with Tom and Sally, although it took me a while, which is, I believe, an intentional part of the brilliant development of this novel. What I said more than two years ago about Made a Killing, equally applies to SOURCE. This is a solid and entertaining novel, which I am happy to recommend.

    Starts off slowly, with significant time dedicated to the Tom's relationship with his wife and the newly introduced Sally. The actual problem faced by the bank is only vaguely described and doesn't become clear until after the halfway point.

    Once things get going, the author does a solid job of combining the heightening action with the increasingly complex relationships between the characters. He really dives deep into Tom's torment.

    I found the premise of an external attempting to tank a company's share price using negative PR to be interesting and plausible, although the damaging allegations are more subtle than one might think. Proof that the author is well-versed in the financial industry.

    I had a few issues with the plausibility of the ending, especially the epilogue, but they don't take away from the book as a whole.

    Worth a read for those interested in financial thrillers.

    I was not able to sludge through this one. I got 40 or so pages in when the language got too raunchy for me. If the writing had been better it might have been worth two stars but..... The characters were so shallow and flippant (not very inspiring). It's gone from my kindle.

    I love a good thriller, and I love a good mystery. 'Source' gave me both in one exciting and free flowing read. Reporter Tom Bishop and his two journalistic comrades, thrown together by his boss Stephan, find themselves facing more danger than they might have abnticipated as they investgate a story involving a bank whose reputation appears to being destroyed by a series of press stories being published which could eventually destroy confidence in the bank, therbey bringing it down as a business institution. Sadly for Tom, the investigation comes at a time when his wife decides to inform him their marriage is over! With the threat of losing his family Tom must proceed with his job, in the company of Sally and Ahmed and the trio are soon caught up in a web of intrigue that spreads from Manchester to Glasgow, and even as far as Barcelona as piece by piece they begin to unravel the ;source' of the title, and the cause of the bank's troubles. Along the way, it becomes clear that they are up against a very clever and unrelenting foe, who is not averse to using violence when he feels they are getting too close to discovering his identity. Tom Bishop is a believable and engaging character, easy to empathise with and the author has created a real page turner, with an unexpected ending, easily worthy of a five star rating. Thoroughly recommended!

The dialogue is sparky, the travelogue well realised; what's not to like?
