Touch of Rain: An Autumn Rain Mystery (Imprints Book 1) Kindle Edition
Sometimes what you can't see means everything
"An unexpected story that certainly doesn't move in predictable directions. Fueled by characters who are realistic and a story that is compellingly different, Touch of Rain's debut of a paranormal suspense series is not to be missed by any reader who looks for a vivid, solid opening act." – D. Donovan, Senior Reviewer, Midwest Book Review
When a young woman vanishes without a trace, her heartbroken parents turn to the last prospect they can find for hope: Autumn Rain. Autumn reads imprints—emotions left behind on certain objects. Only she can shed light on their daughter’s last thoughts.
But Autumn’s ability makes her life difficult. Everyday activities like opening a door or holding a friend’s keys can send her into turmoil. It doesn’t help that the infuriating Detective Shannon Martin, who Autumn has helped on cases, usually treats her more like a suspect than a consultant. Too often Autumn finds herself retreating to her antiques shop and the company of her best friend, Jake Ryan, to avoid notice.
Private detective Ethan McConnell, whose widowed sister has gone missing under similar circumstances, also comes to Autumn for help, but her involvement sets in motion a series of events that risk not only her own life, but the lives of those she cares about most.
If you love unusual mystery and paranormal suspense with a dose of romance, this series will take you on a thrilling ride!

What readers are saying
"A little bit romantic, a little bit mysterious, and a little bit thrilling, all rolled into one. I really enjoyed reading this book. I loved the quirkiness of the main character, as well as her special gifts. The story line kept me interested and had some surprising turns I would not have predicted. The book had a little romance mixed with a bit of the paranormal, as well as mystery and thrills, all of which kept me reading to the end and wanting more. I look forward to reading more of Teyla's work."
"For fans of Medium and Ghost Whisperer."

"There are so many elements here: Autumn Rain with her special psychic ability; her separated-at-birth twin sister, the best friend she yearns to become more, a commune with good intentions, a few guys with bad ones, the police detective who doesn't quite believe her but is still attracted to her. Mrs. Branton weaves them all together with skill and an understanding of each character . . I highly recommend it to anyone who loves suspense seasoned with a bit of romance."

About the authors
International bestselling author Teyla Branton grew up avidly reading science fiction and fantasy and watching Star Trek reruns with her large family. They lived on a little farm where she loved to visit the solitary cow and collect (and juggle) the eggs, usually making it back to the house with most of them intact. On that same farm she once owned thirty-three gerbils and eighteen cats, not a good mix, as it turns out. Teyla always had her nose in a book and daydreamed about someday creating her own worlds. She is now married, mostly grown up, and has seven kids, including a five-year-old, so life at her house can be very interesting (and loud), but writing keeps her sane. Grabbing any snatch of free time from her hectic life, she escapes to her office to write. She loves guns, martial arts, and belly dancing. Teyla writes urban fantasy, paranormal romance, and science fiction. She also writes romance and romantic suspense under the name Rachel Branton. International bestselling author Rachel Branton has worked in publishing for over twenty years. She loves writing women's fiction and traveling, and she hopes to write and travel a lot more. As a mother of seven, it's not easy to find time to write, but the semi-ordered chaos gives her a constant source of writing material. She warns her children that if they don't behave, they just might find themselves in her next book! She's been known to wear pajamas all day when working on a deadline, and is often distracted enough to burn dinner. (Okay, pretty much 90% of the time.) A sign on her office door reads: Danger. Enter at Your Own Risk. Writer at Work. Under the name Rachel Branton, she writes romance, romantic suspense, and women's fiction. Rachel also writes urban fantasy, paranormal romance, and science fiction under the name Teyla Branton. For a free ebook and to hear about new releases, please visit http://www.RachelBranton.com.

- Reviewed in the United States on July 15, 2018I really enjoyed this book. The plot was exciting, packing in a real mystery and suspense without heavy action scenes to overwhelm the story's progression like I find in so many urban fantasies. Not to say it lacks action or fighting it's just a manageable amount complimenting the mystery not dominating it. I also really like the characters and care about what they do and who they are. The subtle romantic angle causes the antagonist the same amount of confusion as the reader, which again is unusual because I really don't know who I want her to be with more. This is one of the best books I've read in a long time. I mostly read fun light hearted kindle unlimited urban fantasy with very little meat to pass the time and I enjoy it. This book is much better in a lot of ways and I've already bought the second one.
- Reviewed in the United States on November 8, 2017I have been a fan of Teyla Branton for several years, most especially her Unbounded series. I wasn't sure if this book would interest me, but as usual Ms. Branton's writing slowly pulled me into her world. Her vivid descriptions and character development allowed me to imagine the entire book. Autumn's gift allows her to read objects with such clarity it gives you chills. The subtle weaving of Autumn's past with the present really pulls you into the story. Without giving too much away, I have to say that the people who surround her are great characters in themselves. A mix of Paranormal, mystery, Touch of Rain is a great way to start a new series. I am looking forward to more visits with Autumn and her crew. It really should be a 4.5 star book.
- Reviewed in the United States on July 20, 2020I always approach a paranormal mystery novel with a good bit of trepidation. I thoroughly enjoy a good, well written paranormal mystery, but I have read or at least started to read too many that are completely unbelievable. When I began this one, I wasn't sure which type it would be. It turned out to be one of the good ones--in fact, an excellent one. The paranormal aspect is not overdone and is presented in a believable manner. The suspense builds throughout the novel, leading to a nail-biter climax. The characters have depth and are given enough background to make their motivations clear, yet without lengthy exposition. This novel is the first of a series, and I look forward to reading subsequent novels in the series.
- Reviewed in the United States on May 5, 2018Good story, fast paced and vivid characters. Only part that bugged me is that the main character is always barefoot. I think it's incredibly unrealistic, a bit gross, and hurts the character's credibility.
- Reviewed in the United States on April 14, 2018This is the first time I've read a book by this author and I was pleasantly surprised. I very much enjoyed this and found the story had just the right amount of balance : an interesting and likable main character with a few quirks, a believable world with an ability that fit in (not too much yet not too little) and a plot that made me keep turning those pages. The secondary characters were believable, as were their reactions through all the turmoil. I enjoyed the plots twists as well. Not too happy, not too perfect, not too macho and not too heavy. I'm off the pick up the next book in the series.....
- Reviewed in the United States on August 27, 2019I loved the book and i wish i had read it directly after the first one to feel the momentum of passion
I do have to say i don’t completely agree with the way she develops feeling for the man and I personally dont know if i would have gone with the end choice man in this second book but thats part of reading a book learning and experiencing different POVs also i wish that the end of the book was a bit more in depth the return and recovery and tramas of the books main character but i feel it was well written and i love the story line
- Reviewed in the United States on September 19, 2022This book is an easy read that will keep you interested throughout. The people are introduced at good timing in the story and easy to keep up with who is who. There is just the right amount of mystery to keep you going. I was sorry it ended when it did. I will definitely read the next in the series.
- Reviewed in the United States on November 12, 2017Great read! Very hard to put down. Characters are interesting and human and the developing relationships keep you guessing. When you add all kinds of twists, because just when you think you have the plot figured out, a new twist will throw your theory out the window or at least make you think you are on the wrong track. Never a dull moment and I really enjoyed the writing which included some of the characters thoughts which makes you feel like you have an inside track to what is going on! Will be reading this series!

3.0 out of 5 stars Paranormaler Hauch

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent
This is the second book I have read by Teyla Branton. It lived up to my expectations.
She writes a unique, exciting, heartwarming and believable story, which is unusual because they have paranormal characters.
I will definitely buy more of her books.
