About this ebook

I thought I was here to pay off my family’s debt…

But the Alpha King didn’t bring me to his castle to be a maid.

Isla

I’m a nobody from a struggling pack, just trying to help my family cover my brother’s medical bills. When I’m sent to the Alpha King’s palace, I expect to scrub floors—not sleep in a luxurious bed.

Then I find out the truth:

I’ve been sold to be his breeder.

King Maddox is cold, cruel, and dangerously powerful. Rumor has it he killed his first wife—and now he needs an heir or he’ll lose his throne.

I’ve never even been with a man. How am I supposed to survive this?

And worse… why does my body crave the one man who might destroy me?

Maddox

After my Luna Queen died, I vowed never to love again. But time is running out—I need an heir, and I need one now. I didn’t go looking for a breeder, but Isla arrived at my doorstep like fate itself.

She’s innocent. Untouched. Nothing like the woman I expected.

I told myself I’d use her and forget her.

But now I want more than just a breeder.

I want to make her mine—forever.

While there are some outstanding emotionally invested scenes from King Maddox that show his noble leadership I was wishing for him to be more of a ruthless dictator smashing showing dark, cunning love for his kingdom then going back to his lover displaying affection with the gentle all so awesome love that he did show which was absolutely amazing!!!! I love King Maddox BUT definitely not a tyrant... It was literally confusing how he got such a name but ❤️ Isla... oh my!!! That peasant hard working girl supporting her family showing so much care being such a timid thoughtful woman going into the arms of a tyrant King was just so satisfying!Sweetness... the sweetness from Isla is just so perfect! The mental landscapes of this book bring up poverty, workers exploitation, corruption while the mysterious supposedly tyrant King righteously cracks down on all that wrong his lands which with his gentle-souled peasant lover makes this heart warming, simple read something I will carry, always!

Despite the fact that I found the story a little flat, I'm giving this 5 stars based on the quality of the writing. The plot is absorbing, the pacing moves right along throwing one believable obstacle after another, and the world building is very realistic. The author did an excellent job setting up the basis for a series without using a cliffhanger. BUT the principal characters are just a bit too stereotypical for my taste and I would have liked a touch more detail in the culminating scene for my satisfaction. Altogether worth reading tho, leaving me curious enough to buy book 2.

I gave up. couldn't finish it. story line is good and it has great potential but the character building is weak. the thought process of each character is immature. the fact that the king opens up so easily to the girl after a few short days contradicts the kind of person he was portrayed in the beginning of the story. there's no mystery. and as I said I couldn't finish the story cause no way does can a person remember a full on conversation when they were 3 years old. maybe an event but not a full conversation.
