Set Ablaze (Unbounded) Kindle Edition
This time the job is personal . . .
Tie-in to the series that shows where Ritter was those two missing months after The Change.
In and out. Do the job. Renegade Blaze Vincent has survived years with this motto. Barely. Plucked from death’s door and revived repeatedly with curequick, he’s developed an addiction that threatens to destroy everything he’s worked for.
Now the Emporium is buying fields around a tiny Portuguese town, and mortals—Blaze’s countrymen—are dying. Blaze and his partner, Kenna Murray, are determined to unravel their enemies’ intentions before the entire town is lost.
But things tend to explode when Blaze is around. Literally. And to save his people, he must be willing to take yet one more step over the edge.
Please Note: Set Ablaze is not as long as the books from Erin's viewpoint. This tie-in to the series can be enjoyed at any time. However, between The Change (Unbounded Book 1) and The Cure (Unbounded Book 2), Renegade Ritter Langton disappears for two months. Set Ablaze fits between those books in the Unbounded timeline, giving us a glimpse into what Ritter was doing. Keep in mind this novella ISN'T ABOUT RITTER, but tells the story of someone very close to him. Because readers are not made aware of Ritter’s whereabouts until nearly the end of The Cure, readers may better appreciate Set Ablaze after reading the first two books. Set Ablaze is now available in Protectors, a set with other side stories.
If you’ve enjoyed the Unbounded series, you will love this extra peek into Ritter’s family.

About the author

International bestselling author Teyla Branton grew up avidly reading science fiction and fantasy and watching Star Trek reruns with her large family. They lived on a little farm where she loved to visit the solitary cow and collect (and juggle) the eggs, usually making it back to the house with most of them intact. On that same farm she once owned thirty-three gerbils and eighteen cats, not a good mix, as it turns out. Teyla always had her nose in a book and daydreamed about someday creating her own worlds. She is now married, mostly grown up, and has seven kids, including a five-year-old, so life at her house can be very interesting (and loud), but writing keeps her sane. Grabbing any snatch of free time from her hectic life, she escapes to her office to write. She loves guns, martial arts, and belly dancing. Teyla writes urban fantasy, paranormal romance, and science fiction. She also writes romance and romantic suspense under the name Rachel Branton. - Reviewed in the United States on February 19, 2020This book was great. It was fast paced with lots of action and even a dash of romance sprinkled in here and there. I love the nods to previous books in the series and the way she doesn't rehash the entire plot of previous books. I wouldn't recommend reading this as the first book in the series, but as long as you've read the first book you should be fine to read it at any point. I believe the author even has a great timeline/when to read layout on her website to help you get them read in the right order without spoilers.
This was a pretty quick read. It took me about 90 minutes or so to read it all, so I don't recommend this if you need to get through a layover or a long flight. I read pretty quickly, but I'd hate to have someone stuck on a plane or in an airport and bored out of their minds. :)
- Reviewed in the United States on October 22, 2016This is one of the best Urban Fantasy series I have read in a long time. It is extremely unique, with a very different premise from most UF books out there today...and I read a LOT of UF books! Ms. Brandon is an excellent writer, with a very smooth, clean writing style that makes every book very easy to get completely lost in. I read this series one book after the other in less than a week...I couldn't put them down. I really hope that there are more Unbounded books in the future!
- Reviewed in the United States on October 15, 2016I will be honest and say that I bought this without even knowing the plot as I have a real love of the Unbounded Series. This one lives up to the others quite well. While this is a distant off-shoot of the main series, I really enjoyed this story. Yes, there is misery, but also hope and some darn good action. You do not need to have read the rest of the series to read this one, but it will fill in some back story. Not as much of Ryder in this as I thought there would be but it was still a very good read.
- Reviewed in the United States on August 21, 2018Fast pace story with plenty of twist and turns. This book is part of a great series that is hard to put down. Just wish the novellas would be in order with the full length books of the series instead of listed at end makes it a little confusioning. Glad they are written to give more insight!!!
- Reviewed in the United States on July 19, 2019I’ve so read many of Ms Branton’s stories, I’m hooked for sure!
This was every bit as exciting as all the others. She has the gift of helping you create an image of each character in your mind. Bringing each scene to life while keeping you on the edge of you seat. Thanks for sharing your gift with us! Can’t wait to see what comes next!
- Reviewed in the United States on March 13, 2017a great tie in with the series. A well written, carefully thought out story
- Reviewed in the United States on December 17, 2016I can only say that this book held my attention from the first to the last word! I didn't want it to end!I hope there is more to come
- Reviewed in the United States on May 20, 2018Good to know new characters, but weird because it didn't tie in any characters from the regular series.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent
This was a great little novella, and helped out to rest my curiosity about Ritters short disappearance and his 'son'. Thoroughly enjoyable.
