Let Love In: A Sweet Romantic Comedy (Canyon Cove Love Stories Book 3) Kindle Edition

4.4 out of 5 stars 536 ratings

There is one person on this earth I cannot stand: Ethan Taylor.

Sure, he looks like he belongs on the cover of a magazine, but don't let his looks fool you. He is pretentious, arrogant, and self-absorbed. Unfortunately, he is also the son of a reality TV star, and designers who won't even glance at my portfolio are on his speed dial.

But now he has a proposition for me: If I join him in New York City and pose as his date to his grandmother’s swanky benefit, he’ll take me to Fashion Week and introduce me to the hottest names in fashion. As an aspiring designer, I’d have to be crazy to turn him down.

Except that means spending a week with Ethan. Pretending to date him. His hand pressed to my low back. His sweet grandmother fawning over me, imagining our future together.

If only my heart didn’t race a little every time he came near me, this would be a piece of cake.

Let’s just hope I can remember all the reasons why I hate him…and keep myself from falling for him instead.

Let Love In is an enemies-to-lovers, sweet romantic comedy that keeps the romance closed-door. It's book three in The Canyon Cove Love Stories but can be read as a standalone.

So swoony!!!
Ethan. Flipping. Taylor. I’ve officially joined this club 👆🏻 and love it 🤩 This was my first book by @authormariesoleil but the third in a series. It was SO GOOD, and I’ll definitely be going back for more. I loved Ethan and Thea so much! And let’s not forget Gran—she was probably the star of the show 🤩👏🏻. Pick this up if you love clean romance, fake dating, swoony moments, firecracker grandmas, and lots of laugh-out-loud banter!

This book was wonderful! I have listened to book one in the series and now book three. I need to go back and read or listen to the second book. But, even though I hadn't read book two, I had no problem jumping into this one.

I love the way Ethan has changed since book one. It is wonderful to see how much he actually cares about his grandmother and even his mother. He has a bit of a hang up about trying to win his father's approval and his father is not a good man.

My favorite thing was seeing the way Ethan cared for Thea. He really did want to make her visit to New York the best that he could for her. He was understanding and patient toward her as she began to see him in a new light. They had their ups and downs, yet their romantic tension was spot on. I really loved this story!

I own the ebook, however, I really enjoyed listening to the audio book through my library.

This was a super cute, fast paced read, the third installment in the Canyon Cove series, featuring a cast of wealthy Orange County "Real Housewives"-esque socialites and the middle class who mingle on the outskirts of their circle. Even though this was the third book in the series, it could be read as a standalone, and the author did a good job of referencing the backstory of the side characters and how they were connected to Thea and Ethan, the main characters of this story. Thea is a dance teacher with dreams of becoming a fashion designer, who also moonlights as a catering waitress to make ends meet. Ethan is the wealthy son of one of the Real Trophy Wives cast members, who arrives at each event with a different woman on his arm. When he spots Thea waitressing at an event, he is immediately drawn to her, but comes off as a smarmy creep, resulting in her slapping him across the face (deserved). Their paths continue to cross, with each encounter being more awkward than the last, as Ethan becomes more smitten and Thea becomes more repulsed. Ethan and his NYC socialite grandmother cook up a scheme for him to invite her to come to her Save The Pandas benefit in exchange for a meeting with a famous fashion designer. Her friends convince her to take the opportunity and use Ethan for his connection, but she soon realizes that he has substance beneath his smarmy exterior. In this story, Gran stole the show, and I loved all the scenes with her well meaning meddling. Even though some more serious issues like death of a parent, infidelity, alcohol abuse, and eating disorders were touched on, everything was very surface level and didn't bring the lightheartedness of the story down. If you are in need of a quick, breezy read, check this one out!

💕 Thank you so much to Marie Soleil for sending me a copy of Let Love In to review!

Ethan was living life on the surface, never delving deeply into any situation or relationship. The son of a high-powered businessman and a TV reality star, he could have almost anything, and anyone, he wanted. When he saw Thea, serving food at a banquet, he wanted her. He made a crude suggestion and she slapped his face! That starts the rehabilitation of Ethan. Thea, Ethan's grandma, and characters from other books in the series all combine to make a new man out of him; a man who's perfect for Thea. This is a clean romance with comedic overtones and brilliant character development. It can easily be read as a stand-alone because this is the only book of the series I've read. Please read it! I got this book from Bookfunnel, I think, but I am definitely going to look for others by this author!

Ethan and Thea are truly epic.

    The banter.
    The chemistry.
The one sided border line hate.

Finding out how their pasts impact how they act and treat each other adds so much depth to the story and understanding of their characters and character growth.

When she gets sick, he takes care of her in the sweetest way. Giving her a glimpse into his true character and his care of her.

I also love Ethan's grandma. She is hilarious!!

    Rating: ⭐⭐⭐
    Steam Level: 🔥 (kissing only)
Trigger Warning: brief mentions of cheating (side characters), loss of a parent, and eating disorders

Ethan Taylor is the most handsome man Thea has ever met. Too bad he's a spoiled player. But Ethan wants to prove that he's worth Thea's time, so he offers her something she can't refuse- a trip to New York for Fashion Week in exchange for being his fake girlfriend. As an aspiring designer, Thea can't pass up the opportunity. While spending the week with Ethan, his rich parents, and feisty grandmother, Thea slowly uncovers the real guy hidden underneath Ethan's rich guy facade. And she realizes maybe he's the guy she's always been looking for. Can Ethan win Thea over and change the trajectory of his life in the process?

I'm so lucky to have followed Marie Soleil's journey as an author this year, and I truly enjoyed the first two books in her Canyon Cove series. When Ethan's character was introduced in book 1, I knew there was more to him than meets the eye. Unfortunately his love story with Thea didn't quite win me over. I liked seeing Ethan take care of her when she got sick and provide some amazing experiences during their New York trip, but I never quite felt that they were ready to jump into a relationship. Ethan was never that bad in my opinion, and I felt that Thea was unfairly mean and judgmental towards him. And when she finally was convinced he was a good guy, he pushed her away. In my opinion, they both needed to overcome their pasts first before pursuing a relationship. I did like how they stood up to Ethan's father and how there were moments we saw the price of fame and fortune. Marie always does a great job showing the hardships her characters are dealing with, and I appreciate that so much. While Thea and Ethan's romance wasn't exactly right for me, I'm clearly in the minority and think this gives Hallmark vibes that others will enjoy. And I definitely recommend going back to the beginning of the series if you haven't already done so!

5.0 out of 5 stars Fun and Funny - very well written
Reviewed in Australia on February 12, 2023
I enjoyed this book very much. I like that it didn't take itself too seriously or overplay some of the plot details. e.g. Thea teaches dance and does design work because her body type ended up not being suited to being a professional ballerina as she grew up and that's presented as a fact rather than a tragic defining moment in her life. I enjoyed that it included a tongue in cheek joke about some romantic plot devices when Ethan's grandmother suggests he tells Thea that his inheritance depends on him being in a relationship and he tells her that's a ridiculous idea. I really enjoyed the characters and reading about their growing relationship.

This is the first book by Marie Soleil that I have read. Oh what fun it was! Great characters, great humour but addressing some serious issues as well. There were some great laugh out loud moments. I can’t wait to read some more of Marie’s books. I fully recommend having a read of this one.

I love rom-com and this type of casual writing. This book is a blessing to people whose English is not our first language as the vocab is easy. The conflict between characters are not dragged on and nice storyline!

First time reading from this author, and will keep doing so :)
