    Wonderful story with wonderful characters.
    We first meet Casey who runs a non-profit business that matches service animals to those in need.
    Then we meet McCoy a widower that owns a local ranch, McCoy has a 4 yr old daughter. He has help from his mother and grandmother who also live on the family ranch.
    Both Casey and McCoy have a heartbreaking past full of loss.
    In Casey’s spare time she volunteers at a shelter in town and ends up fostering a lost dog. “Patches” is quickly at ease with Casey, but she soon finds out that he is “Duke” and belongs to McCoy and his daughter. They strike up an awkward friendship when his daughter Abby takes a quick liking to Casey. Meanwhile McCoy can’t seem to ever say the right thing to not offend Casey though neither of them can seem to stop thinking about the other. Will sparks fly between McCoy and Casey? Will they end up dating? Book 1 is left with a cliffhanger for sure.

    This is so far a fast pace story. Up and downs on meeting each other. Emotions running crazy, attractions, doubt, rollercoaster ride. A sudden death of a loving grand mother. Finding out your roommate in college was also the woman that your love lost yo a serious illness. This is a wild and unsuspecting beginning to part 1.

    Great little story that hits on several levels. Includes heartbreak, life struggles, motherless children, damaged men, and much needed social services. It's a slow burn in the romance area but I have hope that book 2 will fix that issue. Heart warming tale that I'm loving so far.

    This is part one of six in the Prints of Fate series. This is the story of Casey and McCoy (Mac). Casey is the owner of a nonprofit Animal Speaks. It is a company that places dogs with people who need them. She also volunteers at the local animal shelter and when she goes to work there, Helen, the director tells her that she thinks that she has found her running partner. Casey sees an Australian shepherd and she knows that he is the one. Helen tells her how he came to be at the shelter and tells Casey that she should take him home temporarily so that he can have more exercise. Casey has taken the dog home and calls him Patches. She takes Patches on a run with her and while out she meets Patch's real owner. The man comes up and welcomes Patches with open arms. He finally sees Casey and goes up to her and said, Ma'am, I'm McCoy Knox. But everyone calls me Mac. I believe you have found my dog. She tells him how she came to have his dog which is named Duke. Mac tells her that there is a little girl at home that misses Duke and would be happy to see him. Casey tells him that she has Duke's food and toys at her house and she could bring him home that afternoon. Mac gives her his phone number and address and hopes that she does what she said she would. When Casey gets to Mac's ranch, she is met by a woman and a little girl. The little girl is Abby, Mac's daughter. Abby takes a liking to Casey which is not normal for her. Mac is showing Casey around the ranch and they are talking about her and her job. She tells him that she places therapy dogs with her clients. She tells him that she is always looking for service animals and it would be great if they could add equine therapy. Mac tells her no and goes on to say a few other things about her work. She gets mad and tells him a few things and leaves. Casey is hurt that Mac said what he did. She thinks that he is a jerk. She goes back to the office and tells Megan, her best friend what happened. Casey has just found out that she didn't get the grant she applied for and tells Megan that she is going to have to get a real job in order to keep the doors open for Animal Speaks. Megan tells her that she has a plan that may help and tells Casey about it. Casey likes the idea that Megan has come up with and tells her to get started on it. The plan that Megan has come up with is a calendar of the local businessmen like the vet, firemen, and ranch owners. Mac gets talked into doing the calendar and he is not too happy about it. When Casey shows up, she only speaks to him when she has to. Mac knows that he messed up with her but doesn't know how to fix it. The other shoe that Casey was waiting to fall had just fallen. She has no choice now but to get another job in order to keep the doors open for Animal Speaks. She tells Megan about not getting the grant and she said that she thinks that Matt needs an administrative assistant,” Megan tells her that she should send him a text about the job. Casey gets the job and starts the next day after talking to Matt. Casey has not spoken to Mac since the day at the ranch for the photo shoot. Casey has been at Matt's office and in walks Mac. She doesn't speak to him. She is still mad at him for what he said to her. Mac talks to Matt for a little while. After Mac leaves, Megan calls Casey and ofter to get them lunch. While at lunch, Matt and Megan tell Casey about what happened to Mac and his wife Maddie. After hearing what happened, she decides to give him another chance. Casey has to take something over to Mac for Duke. When she gets there, she asked him if they could talk. While they are talking, they hear a scream and rush to the house.
    Can Casey and Mac work things out between them and agree to see where things go?
    This book will leave you with a cliffhanger but will continue in the next book.

    Prints of Fate is a single dad cowboy story in the Patched Hearts series. Casey Lane is the CEO of a non-profit organization that matches service animals to needy people whatever the need. Casey is a tough, independent, very success driven, strong willed woman that has devoted her complete time and life to her organization. She is lonely. The local animal shelter that she donates a couple days a week to, gets in a well behaved, well taken care of, is inside in one of the kennels is a Black and White Australian Shepherd, Casey ends up trial run taking him home with her. Couple of days later her and “Patches” her temporary name for him are out for a run and they come up on a ruggedly gorgeous cowboy on a horse, he stops the horse jumps down and hollers for Duke. Yup, Patches runs and jumps into his masters arms. Casey meets McCoy Knox! Mac as his friends call him is dealing with being a single father the result of his wife dying suddenly not much warning and he hasn’t gotten over his broken heart or dealt with his bad attitude and anger but, when Casey appears before him on that path he can’t ignore the feelings he hasn’t felt in years. Casey and Mac have a lot of ups and downs dealing with the past, they finally reach the point where they are willing to give it an honest good attempt after talking things over out looking over the land when all of a sudden all they hear is screaming coming from inside the ranch house, they both “run for the house nearly taking the screen door off its hinges”! End of Part One. We are left wondering what happened inside the house the only three people are Grandma Ruth, Mom Sarah, Abby and Duke so why the screaming? Who is screaming? Looking forward to Part two hoping for some answers…I received an Advance Reader's Copy and am voluntarily leaving my honest thoughts and opinions.

    Ella Cooper has done it again. Hook, line and sinker for this multi part story! Sadness, Sass and a whole load of sexual tension builds throughout and by the end you'll be eagerly waiting part 2! I love these characters and how they clash immediately but are actually strikingly similar. I'm already theorising where part 2 might lead and I can't wait to watch this story unfold. <3
