Old Lady Ketchel's Revenge: The Slaughter Minnesota Horror Series Book 1 Kindle Edition

4.1 out of 5 stars 108 ratings

She tried to drown her mistake in a river. And ended up taking revenge on an entire town.

All the kids at Slaughter Elementary had the sense to steer clear of Old Lady Ketchel’s place. Everyone except for Bobby Briars. And for his folly, Bobby and his parents mysteriously disappeared. You see, Hagatha Ketchel had a bone to pick. Not just with foolish kids like Bobby Briars, but more specifically, with Enoch Slaughter, the self-appointed mayor of Slaughter, Minnesota.

Hagatha met Enoch as a shy, quiet, God-fearing teen working in her parent’s bakery. Over time, their relationship blossomed, culminating in marriage. Little did she know how their union would ultimately cause her descent into insanity. Fueling her transformation into a vengeful sorceress, bent on causing bedlam and destruction.

What was it that caused Hagatha’s transformation? And would Enoch and the residents of Slaughter survive the onslaught?

Old Lady Ketchel’s Revenge is the first book in the Slaughter, Minnesota horror series. For those readers who grew up near that one scary house that they didn’t dare pass or that strange neighbor they always tried to avoid.

This was an amazing read! I love the paranormal aspect and the story line was well thought out. The characters were relatable. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this and I read the full trilogy one right after the other. I set a time for reading every day/night and went over every time. I think I spent more time reading than sleeping!

I stumbled across this book online and found myself quite intrigued. The story takes place way back in the 60s in a small town called Slaughter, Minnesota. The town was built by a corrupted sociopath who had an obsession with his family bearing lots of sons and children. Not long after the arrival of a school teacher whom I found to be quite annoying the kids in the town begin to die off. All fingers point to Old Hagatha Ketchel an angry and evil old woman with a secret tie to the town's history. I found the stories surrounding Hagatha to be the most interesting and really wanted to learn more about her and why she became so evil. I definitely recommend this book to horror fans!

This was just absolutely terribly executed and edited! Ruined the entire book, and to think there are 2 more to this piece of trash. NOt me.

When I was growing up, it was Old Lady Boo that all of us kids were afraid of. It must be a rule of the universe that every neighborhood has one such unfortunate old woman.

This book started out good. But somewhere along the line, it became very rushed. There were way too many characters, all of them related, all of their names starting with an E. I gave up trying to keep track of who was who. What I really didn’t like was how the old lady turned Bible verses, which are supposed to be inspirational and uplifting, into curses. And there was too much violence directed towards children even if they weren’t the nicest kids. I was going to read the other book in the series but I’ve decided against it. Moving on to something else.

This is a horror story with an ironic sense of humor. There are times when you will laugh, gasp, and become very thoughtful. It is revenge being played out with the long game. Revenge that has been stretched out over time. Characters were very throughout, actions justified, and events were sometimes predictable, but most times not.

First I most confess, this is my favorite genre. I read the 1st book quickly & immediately ordered the 2nd w/Amazon’s overnight. Read thru that & now I have until January to wait for the tale to unfold. He is a new author for me but a good one & I intend to try his other series now. Hope you enjoy this as much as I do.

This book has had me entertained enough to buy the second book. I want to see what happens next. The writing is easy to read, and the writer has done a good job with the development of the characters. The story is pretty good, and im glad I took the time to read it.
