The Old Money Guide To Marriage: Getting It Right - Making It Last Kindle Edition
From dating around to settling down, everything you need to know and every question you need to ask yourself--and your potential mate--is detailed here.
So if you're really committed to meeting the right person, making your marriage work, and making it last, then this is the marriage manual for you. Each chapter details how affluent, educated women and men approach dating and commitment by falling in love 'head-first'.
This love manual also provides exercises at the end of each chapter, asking thought-provoking and soul-searching questions that only you--and your partner--can answer. For a teenager who is just starting to date, this is a great gift.
They'll gain perspective early about how they should behave and how they should expect to be treated as they begin the journey of life and love. The Old Money Guide To Marriage is also a great gift for the college graduate, especially today. What more important, life-changing decision will they make if not the one about who, how, and when they marry? For those already in a committed relationship, this relationship guide will help inform and refine how engaged couples relate to one another and go forward.
And if you're already married, The Old Money Guide To Marriage will deepen your understanding of yourself and your partner, enhance the romance and enrich your relationship, and offer you vitally important tools to use in your marriage. The book discusses the importance of your family background, your educational level, and your goals, of course. And the author encourages you to have many of these in common with your potential partner.
Byron advises you not only how to develop your relationship but also about when to take each step in the relationship process. When to date around, how to know when it's time to date exclusively, and how and when to get engaged and married. He also discusses the importance of that elusive, mysterious factor known as 'chemistry' or 'magic' that sparks between two people, and how to recognize it and maximize it.
So use The Old Money Guide To Marriage to help you make the most important decision of your life, and make your dating experience, engagement, and marriage a tremendous success.

- Reviewed in the United States on January 10, 2016Excellent and practical guide to choosing a stable mate and creating a stable and happy life, complete with many practical and insightful questions to ask yourself and your potential mate, either alone or together, so that you both go into marriage with the same or compatible goals. I hope this book will be in print very soon, because there are many young people (and older people starting the dating process over again for various reasons) to whom I would like to give this book. I've read many guides to good marriage & family & relationships, and this is my favorite of all.
His two other books (as of January 2016) are also excellent guides to creating a happy, stable life: "The Hindu Way to Wealth: My Private Conversations with One of India's Richest Men", and "The Old Money Book: Living Better While Spending Less--Secrets of America's Upper Class". "The Old Money Book" is already in print--thank you!--and I hope that "The Hindu Way to Wealth" will be in print very soon, too. I buy the vast majority of my books to read on my Kindle now, and only buy books in print if I feel they will remain an important part of my life, important enough to see daily, to mark in, and to give away. The three books most definitely fit that criteria.
My only suggestion for improvement, and this applies to all his ebooks, is to have a "working-clickable-link" for the table of contents. As of January 10, 2016, you cannot click on any of the titles in the table of contents and the ebook immediately take you to that section of the book. This makes moving around in the book and going to any desired chapter of the book (to re-read, show a friend, etc.) an awkward multiple step process. I hope that this will be updated soon for all his ebooks.
- Reviewed in the United States on April 22, 2016Solid advice. Wish I read it when I was younger, but invaluable information even if you have been married for years. Good for parents to read to help advise their children start to navigate adulthood.
- Reviewed in the United States on May 27, 2016An excellent book for young people. What the author has really presented here is not so much a guide to marriage, although it is exceptional as that, as much as a guide to dating and finding out just how compatible someone might be as a life partner.
How to approach the social aspects of dating and how to slowly transition into a committed relationship: that's what this book presents as clearly as any I've read. Wish I had it growing up.
That said, it does have much to offer anyone who's at any stage in a relationship. I think real benefit is for parents, whose children are just starting to date, and young people who think they've found Mr. or Ma. Right.
Concise, clear-headed, and entertaining. An essential read.

- Reviewed in the United States on January 22, 2018Excellent! As is all Byron Tully's books! Very well written, to the point, and very detailed! Loved this book!
- Reviewed in the United States on June 26, 2016Good all around book. Explains the very basics. It was what I wanted.
- Reviewed in the United States on August 26, 2019This is informative and practical. Very basic. Also a bit amusing.
- Reviewed in the United States on June 1, 2020This book has three stars because of the new book cover. I was expecting this book to be like his first book, but this is something I was better off reading from the internet. I stop reading at the second commitment part. I do not want to get married, but I thought this was going to be about old money marriage. I might read where I left when I'm bored or something. This book should not be called old money guide to marriage though.
