About this ebook

A morose parrot with a reputation for biting perches in a small cage  in the lobby of Brookside Retirement Community. For Josephine, a reluctant resident, he sums up the place which friend and handwriting expert, Lill, has dubbed Babbling Brook (in honor of the missing waterway and the more exasperating residents). However, Brookside turns out to be more interesting than Josephine expected, as it becomes the setting for art theft, other dodgy dealings, and…naked poker. Investigating the unusual events, Josephine and Lill befriend Devi Subramanian, a young woman Josephine tries to prevent from making the same mistakes she has made.

Enjoyable to read a book without a murder but with a bit of romance, friendships, family woes, and mystery. Nice and clean too, I don't care for steamy scenes or rough language or the new genre that involve ghosts and the like. Overall, a pleasant read.

This book is the very definition of a comfort book. The chapters are short and the pace is slow, so it's very comfortable to read when I have difficulty times or when I feel distraught. I find it easy to connect to the characters (my favourite is Josephine, of course).

The characters in this story are very engaging. I like the way the author wove their lives together in the plot, and I'm happy to know that their stories will continue in another book. I will look forward to the further adventures of Josephine and her friends.
