When Jax O’Connell inherits her aunt’s house in Seattle, she leaves behind her unfulfilling life in Miami to make a new start. Jax settles into her new home where her cat Gumdrop and quirky neighbor Val brighten her days as she follows her dream to become a jewelry designer and glass beadmaker.
Aztec Beads, a new bead shop in one of Seattle’s funkiest neighborhoods, is having a weekend of grand opening festivities and Jax plans to attend. Even though the store’s owner, Rosie Perez, is the surliest person Jax has ever met, she’s excited by the opportunity to display her work in a gallery for the first time.
The weekend’s events become a tangled mess when a young beadmaker is found dead near the bead store. Rosie tops the suspect list, but several other oddball bead enthusiasts are just as likely to be the murderer. When suspicion falls on Tessa, Jax’s best friend, Jax must string together the clues to clear Tessa’s name, and do it before the killer strikes again.
