Description
Twelve years ago, Kaitlyn Russell had a dream: living happily ever after with Clay Morgan. Except her grandmother had bigger plans for her beloved granddaughter and they didn’t include life in the small town of McKenna Springs as the wife of a young, poor deputy. Kaitlyn’s heart was broken when Clay and her grandmother convinced her to pursue her second love, Broadway stardom.
Texas Ranger Clay Morgan is a widower with a young son to raise. A dozen years before, he had to make the most difficult decision of his life when he agreed to let go of the only woman he’d ever loved so that she could pursue her dreams.
Now, fate and an old woman’s guilty conscience conspire to bring Clay and Kaitlyn back together once more. Will they be able to lay the past to rest and rekindle their love from the ashes?
Certainly loved reading this book. Starts out with Kat graduating High School, attending the prom with the Ranger Deputy Clay Morgan, the love of her life and older man by a few years. Two people could not have a truer love for each other. Kaitlyn’s Gram wants her Grand Daughter to have a chance on the stage. Everyone in their small town in Texas knows she is destined for New York. Gram has a heart to heart with Clay that if they follow-up with the way things are going Kat will never be happy knowing she missed out on her one big chance. So Clay does one of the hardest things he has ever done in his life. He convinces her that he’s not ready to get serious. He wants to reach his dream of being a Texas Ranger. He has to keep his destination firmly in hand so he is setting her free to follow her dream.
What happens to the two of these star crossed lovers who left their hearts with the other. For the next twelve years Kat goes on to be a huge success, never returning to her home town. After all, the man she gave her heart to threw it back in her face to chase his dream of being a Ranger. So she would do the same and work on her career. For twelve years she has Gram visit her in New York until she receives the shock of her life. A helicopter lands on the state highway right behind her car and out walks no one but Clay. He informs her Gram needs heart surgery and has been trying to get in touch to ask her to be there for her surgery.
Received this as a free book in exchange for my review. Which was no hardship since I enjoyed every page.
