Description

1842: Bristol, England—a city rife with change as the revolution in industry explodes. In the midst of these tumultuous times, James Winthrop Blackwell yearns to discover who he is. Abandoned as an infant at Alpheton House Orphanage, he comes of age and desires to find the parents who left him. Setting eastward from Bristol to discover his identity, James’s travels bring him face to face with the wealthy landowner of Bethel Manor Estate—Master Fredrick Shaw—and his feisty daughter Clare.

From west to east, from Bristol the city of his youth, to Ely the place of discovery, James’s quest takes him on a profound spiritual and emotional pilgrimage. Times are initially confusing and challenging for James until he comes to terms with the child he was and the man he desires to become.

What James thinks he’s looking for when he leaves Alpheton House is nothing compared to what he finds. He seeks retaliation for being forsaken by his parents, but instead uncovers the reality of his past, the truth of God’s love, and perhaps a future at Bethel Manor Estate with Clare Shaw by his side.
