Description
The Twilight Empire was once the greatest in the world, renowned for beautiful temples, colorful saris, and intoxicating ambrosia. Now, the men of the Isles have come for it all.
With parliament’s permission, the Mercantile Company arrives to trade with the empire’s Obsidian people—at gunpoint. The Isle-men engage in luncheons and balls, consuming endless gin and tonics, on a mission to civilize the Obsidians in the name of science and progress.
And staggering revenue.
Lord Abel Trius crossed the Red Sea for the future of his family. He seeks his fortune in this foreign land, desperate to save his falling House. But rising in the ranks of the Company means he must oppress a city he read about and loved as a child. As rebellion brews, the capital of the Twilight Empire becomes a powder keg.
When Abel discovers corruption in the Company, he will be forced to confront himself and his fellow oppressors. He must face up to his role in the empire’s oppression and figure out whether it’s too late to be a good man. But questioning the Company has dire consequences.
