Amazon Prime’s Reading program is one of the lesser known perks to your prime membership and can be a little tricky to navigate. But if you’re already paying for Amazon Prime for the free and quick shipping times, you might as well take advantage of the included Prime Reading program at no additional cost. Below we’ll walk you through the different reading benefits and give you our best tips for finding the best Amazon Prime ebooks to read.
Prime Reading Benefits Overview
- Prime Reading is a virtual library. You can pick any of the over a thousand included books, magazine, or shorts stories, download them directly to your device, and read them just as you would a library book.
- A rotating book list keeps Prime Reading interesting. Each month, several titles leave, and several new titles take their place. If you’re worried that this means some of the better titles you’ve been waiting on might disappear before you get to them, don’t be. We’ve noticed that many of the most popular titles stick around for long periods of time. And once you borrow a book and it’s on your device, you’re allowed to keep it as long as you need to finish reading it, even if it leaves the Prime Reading list before you’re done.
- You can borrow 10 ebooks at a time. This is usually enough to make sure you have the books you’re interested in lined up and ready to read whenever you’re ready, but not enough to hold on to all your favorite books to read again later, something that many book lovers can find to be a bit of a bummer. Once you finish a book or if you decide you’re no longer interested in a book, you can return the book to select another ebook until you’re at your limit of ten again. However, you can borrow and return an unlimited number of books.
- Free Audible versions. Many of the books included in the prime reading selection also have audible versions available. So if you’re a fan of listening to books while driving or doing household chores, you may be able to find some good books here while saving a little extra cash.
- Amazon First Reads: Amazon First Reads is another Prime Reading benefit where you’re allowed to select one (and sometimes two) new and upcoming Amazon exclusive books. These books won’t be released to the rest of the public until the next month and are yours to keep.
- Kindle Unlimited Lending Library. You have to own a Kindle device or an Amazon tablet to take advantage of this perk, but if you do, you’re able to select one of the millions of books included in the Lending Library each month to read. You’ll find many popular and best selling novels included in this section.
How to Find Amazon Prime Ebooks
The best way to know for sure if a book is included in Prime Reading is to look for the Prime symbol next to the book price. This lets you know that it’s included with your Prime Benefits. You can also go to Amazon to start browsing the titles currently available in Prime Reading. Once you find something that interests you, click “Read for Free,” and the book will be sent to your registered device. You can access prime reading books through the online store, any Kindle or Fire device, or through the Kindle app.
